The Weyed frame collection was created out of patient need.

These are common complaints that our founder, Dr. Quy Nguyen, has heard over and over again in his 14 years in eye care. So with a pandemic raging in 2020, and with more time on his hands, he decided to do something about it - creating weyed (pronounced /wīd/).
Our mission is to create stylish, well-fitting frames in larger sizes for our patients, while using our platform, resources, and expertise to enrich future eye doctors - especially those who are historically excluded in the profession.
We will donate 5% of all profits to the next generation of optometrists.
Meet Our Founder
Dr. Quy Nguyen (Berkeley ‘08, SUNY ‘13) started his career working in ophthalmology and the hospital system in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. After a few years, he was hired at SUNY College of Optometry to run its Career Development Center, while leading the Office of Minority Enrichment (CSTEP) to help expose, support, and guide under-represented minority students to the profession.
He intimately understands how challenging of a time it is to be a student, so in creating this company, he is marrying his passion for helping his patients with his passion for supporting students and diversifying eye care.
